Belle Isle couples session | Joslyn + Matthew

Joslyn and Matthew freaking KILLED this Belle Isle couples session for my photography mentorship with Nicole. Name a more fun couple…I’ll wait.

We started the mentor session picnic style because well, quarantine. After that, we met with Joslyn and her husband Matthew. Couples session meets fun date night shoot in the back of my Jeep Wrangler. They brought their favorite whiskey, Lagavulin, and sipped until the sun fell behind the skyline of Detroit. Some of the best memories of the night were dancing in the parking lot with these two, and listening to Matthew serenade his beauty to end the night. These two are the definition of couple goals. It’s safe to say we all left with perma-grin.

Detroit has so much to offer for photoshoots other than your typical downtown city-life. If you’ve never been to Belle Isle in Detroit, it is a must-see. It is an island park right in downtown Detroit, surrounded by the Detroit River, perfect for an engagement photoshoot or family session! My personal favorite time of the year and day for a shoot on Belle Isle is a summer evening around sunset. Some of the best sunsets I’ve ever witnessed are right there in the city of Detroit.
