Fall Engagement Photos at the DIA in Detroit

Kayla and Nate’s engagement session at the Detroit Institute of Arts happened in late October, which meant the fall colors were absolutely doing their thing. The trees around the museum were glowing in shades of orange, red, and gold—basically peak Michigan fall.

The DIA is always such a great location for engagement photos because it gives you the best of both worlds. You have the incredible architecture of the museum itself paired with the greenery and open spaces around the grounds. In the fall, though, it’s especially beautiful.

For Kayla and Nate’s engagement photos at the DIA, the fall colors completely showed off. The leaves framed the museum perfectly, and every corner of the grounds felt like another little pocket of autumn magic. Late October in Detroit can be hit or miss with weather, but this day was one of those crisp, sunny fall afternoons that makes you remember why Michigan autumns are so good.

One of the things I love most about doing engagement photos at the DIA in Detroit is how timeless the location feels. The stone architecture, wide steps, and tree-lined paths make it such a classic backdrop for photos while still feeling relaxed and natural.
