Blue Llama Jazz Club elopement

Sydney and Tor did things a little differently—in the best way.

The two of them chose to elope privately, exchanging vows just the two of them before returning home to celebrate with the people they love most. And honestly, it felt like the perfect balance: an intimate beginning followed by a celebration with their best people.

Their celebration took place at the incredible Blue Llama Jazz Club in downtown Ann Arbor. It was such a unique setting for their post-elopement party. If you’ve never been, the Blue Llama has this warm, moody atmosphere that feels instantly romantic. Think dim lighting, glowing candles, rich tones and the sound of live jazz floating through the space. It’s the kind of place where every moment feels a little more cinematic.

Instead of a traditional wedding timeline packed with formalities, the night unfolded more like an incredible dinner party. Guests gathered around tables, sharing drinks, stories, and a beautiful meal while live jazz played just a few feet away. The vibe was relaxed, heartfelt, and effortlessly cool.

Sydney looked absolutely stunning, and Tor’s face lit up every time he looked at her. There was this underlying energy all night. The kind that comes when two people have already said their vows and now get to simply celebrate.

One of my favorite parts of photographing a Blue Llama Jazz Club elopement celebration is how naturally the space lends itself to storytelling. The cozy booths, glowing stage lights, and intimate tables create little pockets of connection everywhere you look. Laughter between friends, hugs from family, quiet moments between the couple in the middle of it all.

Sydney and Tor’s day was such a beautiful reminder that weddings don’t have to follow a traditional formula. You can elope somewhere meaningful, keep that moment just for the two of you, and then come home and celebrate with your people in a way that feels authentic to you.
