If I had a dollar for every time a client walked into the studio saying “I’m so awkward in front of the camera,” I’d have… well, probably enough to retire and open a winery in Italy. But instead of cashing in, I’ve made it my mission to turn that nervous energy into full-blown, can’t-stop-smiling confidence—and fast.
Here’s the thing: confidence isn’t something your clients show up with. It’s something you build with them. And you don’t need a psychology degree or decades of experience to do it—you just need to be intentional with how you lead.
This is what I call The Confidence Curve—and how I guide every boudoir session from “please don’t make me look weird” to “holy sht, is that me?!”*
Confidence doesn’t come from a pep talk—it comes from feeling safe. That means your energy matters more than your lens in the first 10 minutes.
Here’s what I do:
Pro tip: I play a curated playlist to set the vibe (you can snag mine below 😉).
The biggest mistake new boudoir photographers make? Jumping into hard poses right away. Don’t do that to her—or yourself.
Start with:
Confidence skyrockets once she sees herself through your lens.
By now she’s feeling herself. This is where the energy shifts—and you want to keep it flowing, not freezing.
What I do:
Also, if she’s giggling? Let her. Shoot it. That joy is part of her story, too.
The last part of your session should feel like the exclamation point—not the ellipses.
Leave her floating. That post-shoot high is real—and it’s your job to make sure it lingers.
I created a free Boudoir Mood Guide that includes my go-to tips for setting the vibe plus the exact playlist I use during every shoot. It’s fun, empowering, and 100% client-tested (and approved by my inner Sasha Fierce).
📥 Grab it here! Let’s make your next shoot a full-on confidence fest from the moment they walk in.
