When Lexi reached out to me for engagement photos and mentioned “get a little muddy”, I was jumping up and down! It is extra fun for me when a couple knows exactly what makes their relationship unique and they want to add a fun twist on their engagement photos. So off to The Mounds we went for Lexi and Will’s muddy off-road engagement session!
I had never been to an ORV park before so I had no idea what to expect. Boy, was I blown away! From the flower fields, to open sand views, and lots of muddy puddles–what a perfect spot for a unique session! We started the the evening off clean and then got a little wild and really had some fun at the end! 😉 L and W were so much fun to work with for their engagement photos. And lemme just tell you…Will was a trooper too! And apparently it was all HIS idea!
So if you’re looking to book a session and want something unique, use this as inspiration! Your shoot can be anything you want it to be–even a muddy off-road engagement session! Not sure what to wear? Check out my how-to guide here!

Hey, thanks for sharing this photo shoot. I found this while looking to plan a similar experience with my wife. Same style of outfits, I love the shirt/top and jeans styling they chose.
II have a few questions if you don’t mind.
How did you choose the location? Was it fairly private or did you have people passing by? Any tips?
What about asking a photographer for this type of set? I guess it depends on the person, but I’m sure you had to deal with the mud and puddles as well. I guess that’s part of the job and the photographer can either say yes or no?
You should totally do it! This couple actually reached out to me with the idea, and the location already in mind (it was an off-roading trail park)! For the most part, it wasn’t very busy which was great but a couple people definitely passed by! I would just straight up reach out to a photographer who has the style you’re looking for and show them your ideas –of course there’s always me 😉 hehe. Also, nothing besides my shoes (and my car) got muddy.
Hey, Thanks for the quick reply and details. We are still in the planning phase. Shopping next week to pick out whole new outfits that we won’t mind getting messed up.
And scoping out locations sounds like a big thing–we don’t have one in mind, but have some ideas. Mostly it’s local public trails. I went to one while it was dry, but waiting for a big shower next week to see what it will be like when muddy.
For trails, I’m thinking the mud will actually reduce the people passing by. My wife is kind of shy so that was her big concern. I suppose that’s another major point–going and scoping out the areas in advance and then hopefully getting lucky with the weather.
